Nassau

Surprisingly limited internet access here so gotta make this short.

Today was kinda weird.

Actually started last night.
We made the passage from Chub Cay to Nassau yesterday. About 8 hours.
Could not communicate with a marina, on the radio, so we decided to anchor, off the channel between Nassau & Paradise Island. Launched the dinghy & went to find a marina. Well if was after 5:00 and all the dock masters were gone so we headed to a restaurant with a dinghy dock we'd heard about. The dock was private and the restaurant was closed, so back to the Heart of Gold we went. When we got there the tide had gone out and the tiller was sitting in the sand. Not so bad. At least we were nice & stable. No rocking last night.

Started this morning with a dinghy ride back to the marinas, found one with a slip & went back & moved the boat. It's a nice marina. Nothing fancy but they charge somewhat fancy rates. They have single 30 amp power and a trickle of fresh water at the dock. (They charge you for the water whether you use it or not). And no WIFI. That kinda ticked me off. Even Bimini had free WIFI. So to post this we have to go to the Texaco station. I mean there's million dollar boats in this place & we gotta go to the Texaco to get internet.

After we docked up we rode our bikes and picked up a spare water pump for our freshwater holding. They do have some great marine stores here.

Next we headed to a grocery store for a few things. Someday I'll take a picture so you can see how much stuff one can carry one a bike. It's challenging but the real challenge here is the traffic. Narrow streets and limited side walks. Sometimes no side walks. So bike ridding is kinda scary. And they're all haulin ass here. Penny said, “Why the hell are they in such a big hurry. The whole island's only 15 miles long.”

After dropping off the groceries we headed out again, on the bikes, down to old Nassau near the cruise ship docks. More car dodging but it was a nice ride with some historic building and a lot of jewelry shops. Bottom line, lots of people, traffic, wave runners & noise. I think I liked Bimini better.

Tomorrow we're going over to Atlantis to see the aquarium & casino.
