Nassau to Andros Island

Fresh Creek

The days go by so quickly it's hard to keep up.
My last post was last Tuesday and it's the following Monday already.

We spent a lot of our time in Nassau trying to get things done. And we were there a day or two longer than we'd have liked. But we did go over to see Atlantis and it is spectacular. The casino, marina village and most of all the aquarium. One of the lobby walls is floor to ceiling glass and the tanks are huge. They even have 2 manta rays. Then off to one side, tunnels lead you to other tanks and displays. We probably only saw half of what's there. And we saw maybe one tenth of the property. The water park is supposed to be huge spectacular as well.

We didn't get out of Nassau till Friday around noon.
Sailed over to a cove on the west end of New Providence Island to spend the night.
As we came into the cove we spotted a really unusual looking property on the point of the cove.
Dinghy'd over the next morning and found this.

It was apparent that it was deserted but we didn't know what it was.
Turns out this place was a private retreat for the rich and famous build by a woman's clothing designer named Peter Nygard. Nygard Cay. Google it. It had 10 suites that rented for $3500 - $4000 per night. George Bush, Micheal Jackson, Oprah among others stayed here. Part of it caught on fire on Nov. 9 2010 and he never rebuilt it. A fleet of cars, 2 yachts and a complete workout room are still there. To see how the rich & famous lived see more of the pics in the photo album.

Saturday morning set sail for Fresh Creek, Andros Island.
Here you can see the spiniker.
Did a wing on wing as the wind was directly behind us.
