Georgetown, Exuma

May 1, 2012

Got into Georgetown last Tuesday for the annual "Family Days Regatta".
It's a 4 day sailing regatta featuring local built boats. Quite a party for the people here.

We were anchored in the harbor for the first 3 days when we started having some issues.
The house battries aren't coming up to full charge so we were running the generator a lot to try to get them up.
Then the generator stopped. Hmm. Checked the fuel/water filters and found dirt and cloudy fuel.
Drained and changed one filter but couldn't get it running.
Also we were at about 1/4 tank fuel.

So we went into the local marina to get fuel and hook up to shore power to charge up the batts.
And found a mechanic to get the genny running. He showed me how to blead the fule system.
Anyway, we're still at the marina but still having some battery issues. I think we need new batteries.

The regatta was great. A real party. And being at the dock made it easy to check out all the fun.
It's a week long party and they go late into the night.

The parade Saturday was fun.
They had the local high school marching band folled by the Nassau Police band.

Somehow I didn't get any pics of the police band. Got some video but don't know how to post them yet.

Lookslike we'll be leaving tomorrow or Thursday for Long Island and more adventures.
